SURPRISING RESULTS IN THE WSK EURO SERIES OF GENK. WSK Euro Series 2013 is approaching its final phase. There are still few points to be awarded in Sunday’s finals. The round of the Series is hosted by the 1,350 meter long Horensbergdam Circuit in Genk, in Flanders, Belgium. After Final 1, the situation of the KZ1 and KZ2 categories is clearer. The races were eventful and gripping: the final phase is definitely going to be as thrilling as ever. Qualifying heats for all the categories took place today. Tomorrow all the finals.

MAX VERSTAPPEN BEATS HIS RIVALS IN KZ1. There was one goal to achieve and Max Verstappen (CRG-TM-Bridgestone) did it: win since the beginning, since Final 1. Verstappen is chasing the victory which can give him the definitive leadership in the KZ1 category. The young Dutch driver, son of the former F1 driver Jos Verstappen, arrived in Genk in first position; to be sure of the final success he immediately gathered the highest score in Final 1. Anyway, winning Final 1 was no piece of cake: Verstappen had to beat a tough rival: the Italian Marco Ardigò (Tony Kart-Vortex-Bridgestone), who took the leadership since the start. Once he managed to pass Ardigò, Verstappen had to keep him at bay even though the Italian driver had to fend off the attacks of the English Ben Hanley (ART GP-TM-Bridgestone). The race, eventually, finished with these three drivers in the first three positions, with Verstappen heading towards the victory of the WSK Euro Series.

RICCARDO NEGRO WINS IN KZ2 AND TAKES OVER LEADERSHIP. A victory in Final 1 to take over the leadership. That’s what the Italian Riccardo Negro (DR-TM-Bridgestone) was looking for to close the gap with another Italian, Marco Zanchetta (Maranello-TM-Bridgestone), who has been his main rival since the beginning of the season. The latter was right behind Negro – who started in first position – during the first laps. Unfortunately, after few laps, Zanchetta had to retire because his gear lever broke. From that moment onward, Negro was pursued by the Danish Andreas Fasberg and the German Alexander Schmitz (both on Tony Kart-Vortex-Bridgestone). Negro managed to keep them at bay and secured victory in the first final of the Belgian weekend. Now, Negro leads the KZ2 championship, with Zanchetta two points behind him. Tomorrow’s race is going to be something worth seeing.

THREE WINS IN A ROW FOR NICKLAS NIELSEN IN KF. In KF, Nicklas Nielsen (Kosmic-Vortex-Vega achieves an awesome winning streak and wins all the three qualifying heats he took part in. So, the Danish confirmed his excellent performance in qualifying, where he set the fastest time, and, at the same time, remains the underdog the leader of the category – the French Dorian Boccolacci (Energy-TM-Vega) – will have to deal with if he wants to win the Series. Boccolacci, anyway, can boast two wins in the heats: tomorrow’s races are going to be thrilling, also because the Polish Karol Basz (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) is another driver who can aim at the championship – he has the same points of Nielsen and won in one of the heats -. In today’s races, victories also for the British Ben Barnicoat (ArtGP-TM-Vega) and the Russian Egor Stupenkov (Energy-TM-Vega).

DAVID BECKMANN, THE NEW NAME IN KFJ. The German David Beckmann (Zanardi-BMB-Vega) will start from the pole in tomorrow’s KF Junior Pre-final, thanks to his three victories in the heats. Two wins for the French Gabriel Aubry (Birel-TM-Vega) and the Canadian Parker Thompson (Energy-TM-Vega), even though it will be the Finnish Niko Kari (FA Kart-Vortex-Vega) who will start next to Beckmann, thanks to a victory and to better placing in the other heats. One victory each for the Italian Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart-Parilla) and the British Lando Norris (FA Kart-Vortex).
