WSK QUALIFYING AT THE LAKES OF CASTELLETTO.
Qualifying of the WSK Super Master Series on the international circuit 7 Laghi took place in a summerlike atmosphere. The warm weather in Castelletto di Branduzzo (Pavia, Italy), near the lakes the facility is named after, can affect the performances that have characterised the Series in the first round, which took place in Sarno three weeks ago. The 200 entrants, coming from the five continents, will have to cope with a weekend which is going to be much warmer than the one of the first round. Technicians worked hard on the mechanics and on the balance of karts in order to adjust them to the new weather condition. After today's qualifying, these are the starting grids of tomorrow's heats.
DREEZEN ATTACKS THE LEADERSHIP IN KZ2.
The results on the 7 Laghi Circuit seem to reverse the trend in each category, beginning with the KZ2. Here, the Belgian Rick Dreezen (Zanardi-Parilla-Bridgestone) set the best time with 47”420, 6 hundredths faster than the French Arnaud Kozlinski (Intrepid-TM-Bridgestone). They are both in pursuit of the leader of the category, the Dutch Bas Lammers (FK-Parilla-Bridgestone), who placed only seventh today. Better performance for Marco Ardigò (Tony Kart-Vortex-Bridgestone), second in the standing and third after today's qualifying. He is ahead of his teammate, the Italian Flavio Camponeschi, who has to recover from the last positions. The Danish Andreas Hansen (Tony Kart-Vortex-Bridgestone) and the Italian Andrea Dalè (CRG-Maxter-Bridgestone), today fifth and sixth, are climbing up the standing and are eager to do their best in Sunday's Finals.
NORRIS WARNS HIS OPPONENTS IN KF.
The English Lando Norris (FA Kart-Vortex-Dunlop) did not have a good start in KF this year, but this time he managed to put in his best performance. He set the best time in 47”824,158 milliseconds faster than the Polish Karol Basz (Tony Kart-Vortex-Dunlop), the current leader of the KF category. Today's results say that the quality of drivers' performance has changed. We can tell it also by the following positions: among the top drivers, only Callum Ilott (Zanardi-Parilla-Dunlop) placed in the first positions (third). In fact, behind Norris we find the French Gabriel Aubry, the Finnish Niko Kari (both on Tony Kart-Vortex-Dunlop) the Italian Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart-TM-Dunlop), all eager to close the gap in a standing where they occupy the eleventh position or lower. The hunt for the first two positions will open with tomorrow's heats.
BAIZ HAS A GOOD START IN KF JUNIOR.
Also the KF Junior is in 'turmoil'. Here the Venezuelan Mauricio Baiz (Exprit-Vortex-Vega) has stepped forward and attacked to take over leadership. He set the fastest time with 48”791, 95 milliseconds faster than the current leader of the category, the English Daniel Ticktum (Zanardi-Parilla-Vega). The WSK Master Series awards points in ascending order in each race and this makes recoveries easier: at the moment, Baiz occupies the 21st position but aims at closing the gap. On the other hand, the Italian Leonardo Lorandi (Tony Kart-TM-Vega) is in the top positions: he set the third time behind the American Logan Sargeant (FA Kart-Vortex-Vega). The fifth time set by the 13-year-old from Valencia Marta Garcia Lopez (Zanardi-Parilla-Vega) is even more surprising. She placed ahead of the English Enaam Ahmed (FA Kart-Vortex-Vega). The show of the heats is going to be spectacular in KFJ. Two heats were raced this afternoon: the winners were Lorandi and the German David Beckmann (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega).
IN PURSUIT OF SZYSZKO IN THE 60 MINI.
The 60 Mini qualifying is on schedule tomorrow. Here, the driver to beat is Maciej Szyszko (Tony Kart-LKE-Vega). The Polish is the leader of the standing ahead of the Romanian Mikar Mizevych (Tony Kart-LKE-Vega), the Spanish David Vidales (FA Kart-LKE-Vega), the Italian Nicola Abrusci (Tony Kart-LKE-Vega), Mattia Muller and Giuseppe Fusco (both on Lenzo Kart-LKE-Vega).
