TOMORROW PREFINALS AND FINALS ALSO FOR THE OKJ AND THE 60 MINI. THE RACES LIVE IN STREAMING ON WSK.IT FROM 11:20.
SPECTACULAR RACES AT THE ADRIA KARTING RACEWAY AND TOMORROW THE FINALS OF THE WSK CHAMPIONS CUP.
All according to expectations at the Adria Karting Raceway (Italy): kart racing proved once more to be a spectacular sport on the 1,302 metres of the Italian facility. Today there were the Qualifying Heats in schedule, and the 216 scrutineered drivers in the four categories (KZ2, OK, OK Junior and 60 Mini) were eager to get back on track to challenge their rivals in the 2016 season-opener. The 22 races which took place today were only a premiere of tomorrow’s show of the Prefinals and the Finals, which will be available live in streaming on the official WSK website wsk.it (from 11.20 am).
POLE FOR TRAVISANUTTO AND SARGEANT IN THE OK.
Excellent season debut for the Italian Lorenzo Travisanutto; thanks to two victories in the Heats, he grabbed the pole of the Prefinal A. Next to him, in the front row, the Danish Nicklas Nielsen (both on Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega). Second row for the Italian Felice Tiene and the Finnish Paavo Tonteri (both on CRG-Parilla-Vega). The Prefinal B has two reigning World Champions in the front row: the KFJ Champion Logan Sargeant (FA Alonso-Vortex-Vega), at his debut in the category, beat into second position the 2015 KF Champion, the Polish Karol Basz (Kosmic-Vortex); second row for the English Clement Novalak (Tony Kart-Vortex) and the Chinese Yang Sun Yue (FA Alonso-Vortex).
IN KZ2 ARDIGÒ IS THE LEADER.
In the gear-box category the leader is the Italian Marco Ardigò (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega): he won twice and secured the pole-position in the Prefinal. Second slot for another Italian driver: Paolo De Conto (CRG-Maxter-Vega), who scored two second places in today's races. Second row for the Italian Lorenzo Camplese (Parolin-TM-Vega) and the Czech Patrik Hajek (Kosmic-Vortex-Vega). Bad luck for the German Alexander Schmitz, who won a heat but dropped back to sixth row because of the poor results achieved in the other two races.
ULYSSE DE PAUW WINS THREE RACES IN THE OKJ.
The OKJ heats will finish tomorrow morning and only then we will know the names of the pole sitters of the Prefinal A and B. In the race towards the pole-position the Belgian Ulysse De Pauw (BirelArt-Parilla-Vega) won three times. Excellent performance also for the Moroccan Sami Taoufik (FA Alonso-Vortex-Vega), the top driver yesterday and winner twice today. A success each for the Russian Pavel Bulantsev (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega), the Swedish Rasmus Lindh (Ricciardo Kart-Parilla-Vega) and the Italian Alessandro Brigatti (Exprit-TM-Vega).
LOTS OF NEW NAMES IN THE 60 MINI.
A big generational change among the young drivers of the Mini and, consequently, lots of new names took centre stage today. With still two races remaining before the end of the heats, two victories were scored by the Italian Michael Paparo (Ip Karting-TM-Vega), the Czech Dan Skocdopole (CRG-TM-Vega) and the Polish Tymo Kucharczyk (Tony Kart-TM-Vega). The Czech Roman Stannek (Energy-Iame-Vega) and the Malaysian Adam Putera (CRG-TM-Vega) won a race each.
