PREFINALS AND FINALS IN LIVE STREAMING ON WSK.IT ON SUNDAY MARCH 18TH.
CHARGING FOR THE QUICKEST TIME IN LA CONCA.
It has been qualifying time in Muro Leccese, at the World Circuit La Conca, for the 235 drivers partaking in the 3rd round of the WSK Super Master Series. Common target is to haul some further points valid for the classification, that will benefit from the increased points to be awarded in this round in Puglia, as stated by regulations. The racing day ended with the first qualifying heats for OK Junior, OK and 60 Mini. KZ2, will kick off heats tomorrow instead, for a total of 23 races.
A SOLID START FOR DE CONTO IN KZ2.
The challenge in KZ2 is going to be quite interesting as a lot of strong drivers will take part in this round. Reigning World Champion Paolo De Conto (CRG-TM-Bridgestone) has been the quickest so far and posted a best lap of 45”406s, that was 0.141s quicker than the Finn Simo Puhakka’s time (Tony Kart-Vortex). The Italian Alex Irlando (Sodi Kart-TM), who is the current classification leader of KZ2, has been third quickest leading team mate from France Anthony Abbasse in fourth. The Italian Marco Ardigò (Tony Kart-Vortex) also put in a good qualifying and posted the seventh time, showing a good physical recovery at his comeback.
MAIDEN POLE FOR COLUCCIO IN OK.
Luigi Coluccio (BirelArt-TM-Bridgestone) has claimed his maiden pole position in OK today: the driver from Maglie (Lecce, Italy) has given his best on the home circuit, completing his quickest loop in 45”548s, which was 0.249s clear of the time posted by the Dane Nicklas Nielsen (Tony Kart-Vortex). The Czech Roman Stanek (Kosmic-Vortex) has been competitive again in third place, leading the Italian Lorenzo Travisanutto (KR-Parilla). The first heats of the weekend went Nielsen and Stanek’s ways, as they won the races held in the evening. Classification leader from Germany Hannes Janker (KR-Parilla) has some ground to get back, as he was 9th in qualy and 16th in the race.
MINÌ PUSHING HARD IN OK JUNIOR.
Gabriele Minì (Parolin-Parilla-Vega) aims to the lead in OK Junior, despite being in his maiden year: the Italian secured the pole position in 46”759s, pipping the Swede Dino Beganovic (Tony Kart-Vortex) by 0.062s only. The Bulgarian Georgi Dimitrov (Exprit-Vortex) is currently third, leading classification leader Kirill Smal (Tony Kart-Vortex). Beganovic won one of the two heats, while the other went to the Estonian Paul Aron (FA Kart-Vortex).
BOHRA: A NEW TOP DRIVER IN 60 MINI.
Yet another driver is aiming high in 60 Mini: the American Akshay Bohra (Parolin-TM-Vega) went quickest today in La Conca posting a fastest time of 52”843s. He was 0.066s clear of the Italian from Brindisi Jacopo Cimenes (EvoKart-TM), who led the American Nikita Johnson and the Norwegian Martinius Stenshorne (both on Parolin-TM). The latter, current classification leader, won one of the two heats, while Johnson won the second one.
