The WSK Super Master Series opened the 20th year of WSK Promotion and launched the initial protagonists of International Karting of the new season with the winners in La Conca: McGaughy (OKJ), Palacio (OKNJ), Perico (MINI), Bergman (U10), Pex (KZ2) and Drummond (OK).

The new international karting season kicked off with a bang at the La Conca Circuit in Muro Leccese. The opening round of the WSK Super Master Series on the weekend of January 26th marked the 20th anniversary of WSK Promotion, which began right here at La Conca back in 2006. Since then, there has been a succession of successes both in Italy and internationally, with a growth path marked by 170 karting events that, from 2006 to 2024, have accumulated over 34,000 participants.
The first round of 2025 had the distinction of opening the year with excellent turnout, with 226 drivers from 47 nations competing in the MINI, OKNJ, OKJ, OK, and KZ2 categories. After qualifying and the preliminary heats at the beginning of the weekend, the final phase on Sunday determined the main contenders for victory with the Prefinals and then the Finals, launching the first protagonists of the year.
THE PREFINALS.
The winners of the Prefinals:
OKJ Prefinal-A: 1st Crisan Ilie Tristan (CAN) (#304 Tony Kart Racing Team/Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega).
OKJ Prefinal-B: 1st Hoogendoorn Dean (NLD) (#302 Prema Racing/KR-Iame-Vega).
OK-NJ Prefinal: 1st Palacio Lucas (USA) (#711 KR Motorsport/KR-Iame-Vega).
MINI GR3 Prefinal-A: 1st Nanni Alessandro (ITA) (#504 BabyRace/Parolin-Iame-Vega).
MINI GR3 Prefinal-B: 1st Perico Niccolo’ (ITA) (#521 Team Driver/KR-Iame-Vega).
MINI U10 Prefinal: 1st Godschalk Wynn (CUW) (#564 Kidix Driver/KR-Iame-Vega).

THE FINALS.
OKJ – The victory goes to McGaughy following a penalty to Baglin.
Ilie Tristan Crisan (Tony Kart Racing Team/Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega), winner of the Prefinal-A, immediately took the lead in the Final. The Canadian driver was chased by the Australian William Calleja (Forza Racing/Exprit-TM Kart) and his teammate Henry Domain, while the Dutch driver Dries Van Langendonck, winner of the Prefinal-B, lost positions at the start. However, the British driver Noah Baglin (Prema Racing/KR-Iame) made a comeback, taking the lead with 5 laps to go. Meanwhile, the American Michael McGaughy (Koski Motorsport/KR-Iame) moved up to second position and Calleja to third. At the end of the race, Baglin was handed a one place penalty, and the victory went to McGaughy.

OK-NJ – Palacio dominates.
In the OK-N Junior category, the American driver Lucas Palacio (KR Motorsport/KR-Iame-Vega) quickly established a significant advantage. Having already excelled in the heats and won the Prefinal, he went on to secure victory in the Final. His teammate, the French driver Many Nuvolini, who had claimed pole position and was a standout throughout the weekend, chased him to the finish line. However, Nuvolini lost his podium position due to a penalty for a loose front spoiler, allowing another Frenchman, Teo Policand (Victorylane/KR-Iame), to move up to second. The Italian driver Gioele Girardello (Modena Kart/Parolin-TM Kart) claimed third place on the podium, finishing in a thrilling photo finish with his compatriot Michele Orlando (DR/DR-Modena Engines). The Ukrainian driver Nikita Botte (Novalux/Lenzokart-LKE) rounded out the top five.

MINI Gr.3 – Perico wins from the get go.
The Italian youngster Niccolò Perico, racing for Team Driver on a KR-Iame-Vega, made a winning debut as he moved up from the MINI Under 10 category to the Gr.3 class with his new team. Perico secured victory in the Prefinal-B and then confidently dominated the Final, finishing ahead of fellow Italian Achille Rea (CRG Racing Team/T-Group/TM Kart) who had set the fastest lap in qualifying. The Portuguese driver Lazaro Xavier (DR/DR-TM Kart) claimed the third step on the podium, finishing ahead of Antonio Ianni (CRG Racing Team/TGroup-TM Kart), who had been at the top of the timesheets in the heats. The BabyRace team's drivers, Harry Williams and Alessandro Nanni (who had won the Prefinal-A), rounded out the top six.

MINI U10 – Bergman unstoppable in the Final.
In the MINI Gr.3 Under 10 category, the American driver Josh Bergman from the Kidix team on a KR-Iame-Vega claimed victory after quickly establishing a significant advantage. His teammate, the Caribbean driver Wynn Godschalk, ended second after winning the Prefinal. Meanwhile, the French driver Amine Pantoli (LA Motorsport/Parolin-TM Kart) claimed third place after a strong recovery. It was a tough Final for David Shitov (Team Driver/KR-Iame) who finished tenth despite securing pole position in qualifying and winning the heats. Pole finished fourth, followed by the Moroccan driver Nahyl El Gahoudi (Kidix/KR-Iame) in fifth.

KZ2 – Pex eventualy takes victory.
After a continuous alternation of leaders that characterized the KZ2 class, it was ultimately the Dutchman Stan Pex (Pex/KR-TM Kart-Vega) who prevailed. He delivered a splendid final victory, taking the lead almost immediately after the start. Another Dutchman, Senna Van Walstijn with Sodikart, who had claimed pole position in qualifying, was also poised for success. Similarly, the Frenchman Matteo Spirgel on Sodikart-TM Kart was among the top contenders, with the best position in the heats and then victory in the Prefinal ahead of the Italian Giuseppe Palomba with Maranello Kart and Pex himself. Another highly competitive driver was the Dutchman Marjin Kremers with Tony Kart Racing Team on a Tony Kart-Vortex, who repeatedly challenged Pex for the lead in the Final but had to settle for second place behind him. Spirgel secured the third step of the podium, while Senna Van Walstijn finished fourth ahead of his teammate Max Orlov.

OK – Drummond wins the final duel.
Among the leading protagonists of the weekend, the victory ultimately went to the English driver Zac Drummond (Fusion Motorsport/KR-Iame-LeCont), following a thrilling duel with the Spaniard Christian Costoya (Parolin Motorsport/Parolin-TM Kart) and the Belgian Dries Van Langendonck (Prema Racing/KR-Iame) who secured the other two podium positions. Among the leading drivers in the category was also the home driver Iacopo Martinese (KR Motorsport/KR-Iame), who had the satisfaction of winning the Prefinal but then finished in fifth place, preceded by the Belgian Zac Green (DPK Racing/KR-Iame). The other top positions went to the Italian Sebastiano Pavan (Ward Racing/Tony Kart-TM Kart) who finished sixth ahead of the Maltese Jacob Micallef (KR Motorsport/KR-Iame) and the other Italian Filippo Sala (Forza Racing/Exprit-TM Kart).
