Some surprises characterized qualifying practice and heats on Friday. More heats are in the menu for Saturday, while the final stages with Live Streaming coverage will be on Sunday, October 3rd.

Adria (ITA), 01.10.2021
The second round of WSK Open Cup got underway in Adria with the initial challenges among the 237 verified drivers that take part in this important and decisive international karting event in representation of 50 different nations. A lot of title contenders will hunt for glory in KZ2, OK, OKJ and MINI on Sunday, October 3rd, after the qualifying stages on Friday and Saturday.

The first official day has ended with the first protagonists of qualifying practice and the initial heats. Some results were quite surprising compared to the previous round that took place in Lonato on September 19th.

Badoer to the fore in KZ2, but the first heat is won by Tonteri.
In the most powerful category, KZ2, Brando Badoer (Parolin Motorsport/Parolin-TM Racing-Vega) set the fastest time of qualifying practice in 47.326s at his second experience in this category. He proceeded by a whisker other strong interpreters of the shifter category like Danilo Albanese (KR Motorsport/KR-Iame), who was second at 0.012s, Giuseppe Palomba (BirelART Racing/BirelART-TM Racing), third at 0.013s and the Finn Paavo Tonteri (CRG Racing Team/CRG-TM Racing), fourth at 0.024s. The first KZ2 heat was then won by Paavo Tonteri.

Kucharczyk claims the pole and the victory of one heat in OK, Tsolov wins the second heat.
The best time in qualifying practice of OK was posted by the Pole Tymoteusz Kucharczyk (BirelART Racing/RK-TM Racing-LeCont) in 46.893s. He led the British driver Arvid Lindblad (KR Motorsport/KR-Iame). The winner of Lonato Joe Turney (Tony Kart Racing Team/Tony Kart-Vortex) was fourth with a best time of 47.075s as he was proceeded also by the Bulgarian Nikola Tsolov (DPK Racing/KR-Iame). The two heats ran on Friday went to Tymoteusz Kucharczyk and Nikola Tsolov.

Slater is the provisional leader of OKJ.
In OKJ the British driver Freddie Slater (Ricky Flynn Motorsport/Kosmic-Vortex-Vega) bounced back from the unlucky result of Lonato and posted the fastest lap in qualifying, completing his best loop after 48.653s. He was followed by the Jamaican Alex Powell (KR Motorsport/KR-Iame) who posted a 48.747s as his best performance, and the American winner of Lonato Luis James Egozi (Tony Kart Racing Team/Tony Kart-Vortex) who completed his best lap in 48.912s. Six heats have been ran on Friday. The victories went to the Brit Freddie Slater, the Finn Luka Sammalisto (KR Motorsport/KR-Iame), the American Luis James Egozi and the Russian Anatoly Khavalkin (Parolin Motorsport/Parolin-TM Racing).

Surprising result by Tonalini in MINI, but the heats are led by Cosma-Cristofor.
A nice surprise came from MINI as the Italian Cristian Tonalini (MLG Racing/Parolin-Vega) posted the fastest time in 54.281s. His fellow-countryman Davide Bottaro (AV Racing/Parolin-TM Racing) was second in 54.287s. The Spaniard Christian Costoya (Parolin Motorsport/Parolin-TM Racing) went quickest in Session-3 with a best time of 54.306s, the Romanian David Cosma-Cristofor (Gulstar Racing/KR-Iame) led the charts of Session-2 with his 54.391s. The winner of Lonato Emanuele Olivieri (Formula K Serafini/IPK-TM Racing) is quite far to the back in P44. David Cosma-Cristofor is leading the pack after the six heats ran so far as he claimed two wins. He is followed by the Dutch Dean Hoogendoorn (Kidix/Alonso-Iame), the Italian Jacopo Martinese (CMT/Parolin-TM Racing), the Czech Jindrich Pesl (BabyRace/Parolin-Iame) and the Belgian Dries Van Langendonck (Parolin Motorsport/Parolin-TM Racing).
