Qualifying heats named the favourite drivers for the second and closing round of the WSK Euro Series. The Final stages will go live on TV and Live Streaming on Sunday, September 29th.

Sarno (ITA), 28.09.2024
Saturday's qualifying heats of the second and final round of the WSK Euro Series at the International Circuit Napoli in Sarno, along with the pole sitters from Friday, have provided the first important indications of the potential winners who will be competing for the titles on Sunday, September 29th, in the international categories OK and OKJ, in the junior MINI Gr.3 and MINI Gr.3 Under 10, and in the two new national categories OKNJ and OKN.

On the track, drivers from 40 nations, with all the winners of the first round in Franciacorta last June determined to confirm their leadership, but the increased points for this second round compared to the first round, could open up valid chances for many other protagonists.

Live on TV. The final phase on Sunday, September 29th will be broadcast live from 10:45 on the WSK Promotion Facebook page, on the WSK, Motorsport.com and YouTube websites:

Some WSK Euro Series title holders are also in the fight.
Among the participants in this event, some of the title holders of the WSK Euro Series from previous years will try to repeat their feat, such as the Spaniard Christian Costoya who won the title in the MINI in 2021 and is now racing in the international OK, as well as the Spaniard Daniel Miron Lorente, champion in the MINI Gr.3 Under 10 last year and this year racing in the MINI Gr.3, while the Turkish Bati Ege Yildirim will try to repeat himself in the OKN which he already won last year. But many new protagonists who have taken to the track this year are ready to play their cards, and there will certainly be great competitiveness right up to the finish line.

Qualifying heats on Saturday.
MINI Gr.3 U10 - Loomets to the fore.

In the MINI Gr.3 category, the Estonian Mark Loomets (#502 Energy Corse/Energy-TM Kart-Vega) took the lead with two victories in the first two heats and a second place in the third. The pole sitter from Portugal Xavier Lazaro (#519 SM Racing/OTK-TM Kart-Vega), lost some positions, as did the Frenchman Jean Poujol (#601 Tony Kart Racing Team/Tony Kart-Vortex), who was even forced to retire in the first heat before making up for it in the second heat with a third place. In the third heat, there was a great recovery with victory for the Scotsman Mason Robertson (#508 BabyRace/Parolin-Iame), winner at Franciacorta. Among the best were also his teammate Lorenzo Di Pietrantonio, the other Italian Antonio Ianni (#557 CRG Racing Team/TGroup-TM Kart) and Stepan Mazepin (#517 SM Racing/OTK-TM Kart)

MINI Gr.3 - Gorski puts in a convincing performance.
The MINI Gr.3 heats were full of action. The Polish driver Leonardo Gorski (#534 Tony Kart Racing Team/Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) dominated the second heat confirming his place among the most competitive drivers in the category, alongside the Ukrainian Oleksandr Legenkyi (#588 Team Driver/KR-Iame) who won the first heat. The pole-sitter, Frenchman Stan Ratajski (#540 BabyRace/Parolin-Iame), is third in the provisional standings with one heat win, while his teammate, Julian Frasnelli, finished second in two heats but also scored a DNF. Another strong performance came from BabyRace driver Alessandro Truchot, who finished ahead of Franciacorta winner, the Spaniard Daniel Miron Lorente (#552 Team Driver/KR-Iame).

OKN and OKNJ - Ociepa (OKN) and Eskandari-Marandi (OKNJ) on top.
The two national categories raced together in the heats but will be separated in the final phase. The Polish driver Juliusz Ociepa (#805 Novalux/Lenzokart-LKE-Vega) and the Australian Sebastian Eskandari-Marandi (#704 Ward Racing/Tony Kart-Vortex) stood out respectively in OKN and OKN Junior. Between the two, there was an interesting, albeit inconsequential, duel for the overall victory. Both secured first place in their respective categories after the heats. Juliusz Ociepa finished ahead of the Italian Nicolas Marchesi (#809 Team Driver/KR-Iame), while Sebastian Eskandari-Marandi finished ahead of Prokhor Solukovtsev (#744 DR/DR-Modena Engines). In the more numerous OKN Junior category, the Frenchman Lucas Bonhomme (#717 Moni/Tony Kart-Vortex), the Dutchman Billy Van Staveren (#734 Modena Kart/Parolin-TM Kart), and Valerio Viapiana (#736 Team Driver/KR-Iame) also performed well. Franciacorta winner Antonio Pizzonia Neto (#738 Team Driver/KR-Iame) fell behind in OKNJ, while Franciacorta OKN winner, the Turkish driver Bati Ege Yildirim (#804 Modena Kart/Parolin-TM Kart), is recovering.

OKJ - Kamyab takes the lead.
The excellent competitiveness shown in qualifying by the three drivers separated by just one thousandth of a second, Maxim Bobreshow (#371 Fusion Motorsport/KR-Iame-Vega), his teammate American Mark Pilipenko, and the Panamanian Gianmatteo Rousseau (#303 Energy Corse/Energy-Iame), was somewhat undone in the heats. In heat 2, Pilipenko and Rousseau were forced to retire due to an incident, and Bobreshow finished in the back of the field. A retirement in heat 1 for Filippo Sala (#327 Ricky Flynn/LN Kart-TM Kart) also had a negative impact on the Italian driver who had shone in qualifying. At the head of the field was Franciacorta winner, the Englishman Roman Kamyab (#326 Ricky Flynn/LN Kart-TM Kart) with a win and two second places, while another victory went to the American Devin Walz (#335 Forza Racing/Exprit-TM Kart). Gianmatteo Rousseau bounced back with a win in the third heat. Among the top performers were also the Peruvian Mariano Lopez (#341 Fusion Motorsport/KR-Iame) and German Arjen Kraeling (#309 KR Motorsport/KR-Iame).

OK – Lindblom dominates
Franciacorta’s winner, the Swede Scott Lindblom (#221 Fusion Motorsport/KR-Iame-LeCont), dominated all three heats, along with fellow Swedes Elliot Kaczynski (#264 Ward Racing/Tony Kart-TM Kart) and Oliver Kinnmark (#266 KR Motorsport/KR-Iame). The Austrian Niklas Schaufler (#268 DPK Racing/KR-Iame), who had secured pole position in qualifying, suffered a retirement in the second heat after a strong second-place finish in the first. Schaufler fought back in the third heat but finished third after leading in the early stages. Other top performers included that of the Turkish driver Alp Aksoy (#215 Fusion Motorsport/KR-Iame), the Spaniard Christian Costoya (#265 Parolin Motorsport/Parolin-TM Kart), and the Czech Jindrich Pesl (#267 Monster K Factory/CRG-TM Kart).
