THE FIRST RESULTS OF THE WSK SUPER MASTER SERIES FROM ADRIA.
243 drivers at the Adria Karting Raceway this weekend, too. This time the facility hosts the WSK Super Master Series, the WSK promotion event at its first event out of four. Drivers from all around the world have entered the competition reserved to the KZ2, OK, OK Junior and 60 Mini categories, proving that last weekend’s success was not an isolated case: there are participants coming from 33 different countries and from five continents. The race moved into top gear this afternoon, after the last session of free practice. Qualifying established the starting grids of the heats which, from today until tomorrow, will hold centre stage at the north Italian facility. These races will award the first points for the general standings before the great finale of Sunday 5th February, with the decisive races available in streaming on the official WSK website wsk.it.
PUHAKKA SETS THE BEST TIME IN KZ2.
The Finnish Simo Puhakka (CRG-TM-Bridgestone) started with the right foot setting the fastest time with 1’02”366. He is the pole-sitter ahead of the Swedish Douglas Lundberg (Sodi-TM), second, and the two Dutch drivers Stan Pex (CRG-TM) and Bas Lammers (Sodi-TM). However, Anthony Abbasse (Sodi-TM), who started from the fifth slot on the grid, managed to gain an early lead in the first heat, which took place in the evening. The French won ahead of Lundberg.
TONTERI HAS A GOOD START IN OK.
The Finnish Paavo Tonteri duelled against the Spanish Pedro Hiltbrand (both on Tony Kart-Vortex-Bridgestone) before grabbing the pole with 1’02”335, ahead of his strong rival winner in Adria last weekend. Good performance also for the drivers who placed behind them and eager to battle in the heats: the French Victor Martins (Kosmic-Parilla), the Italian Travisanutto (Zanardi-Parilla) and the Polish Karol Basz Kosmic-Vortex). However, the first race of the weekend was won by Hiltbrand, who placed ahead of his fellow countryman David Vidales (Tony Kart-Vortex).
BULANTSEV LEADS IN OK JUNIOR.
The Russian Pavel Bulantsev (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) set the best time in qualifying with 1’04”89. He is in great shape, as he showed last week when scored a podium position behind the French Gillian Henrion (CRG-Parilla). Gillian, too, put in an outstanding performance and placed second ahead of the Italian Leonardo Marseglia (Zanardi-Parilla). Fourth place for the English Dexter Patterson (BirelArt-TM), who beat into fifth the Austrlian Jack Doohan (FA Kart-Vortex). The first heat of the weekend was won by Doohan ahead of Marseglia, at the end of gripping battle. The second race was as spectacular as the first, and the winner was the Italian Giuseppe Fusco (EvoKart-LKE) ahead of Henrion.
MINÌ IMMEDIATLY AT THE TOP OF THE 60MINI.
The Sicilian Gabriele Minì (Parolin-TM-Vega) set the best time with 1’12”716 in the 60 Mini; behind him the Russian Nikita Bedrin (Tony Kart-TM). The battle between the two young drivers continues after they scored a second and a third place last Sunday. Behind them the Australian Marcos Flack, the Italian Luca Giardelli and the South African Saood Variawa (all on CRG-TM). The South African placed second in the first heat won by the English Bray Kenneally (Energy-TM), while Bedrin won the second ahead of Giardelli.
